An Overview of Polycom Phones
This page is intended to help with the selecting a phone for use with our service. Bluestone does not sell phones, but we do very strongly recommend the Polycom family. You are free to get the best price you can - just Google the phone model.
All of the phones have the following in common:
- They are all SIP phones
- They all have the standard 2.5mm headphone jack.
- They all have excellent speaker phones.
Soundpoint IP-321 and IP-331 - (A "standard" 2 line phone)
These are the "work horse" phones that are suitable for the vast majority of applications. They are identical except the IP-331 has 2 Ethernet ports and can therefore use an existing drop by wiring from the jack to phone and then from the phone to the PC. The IP-321 has only a single Ethernet port and will either need its own jack or you will need a high speed local Ethernet switch.
On our service you could assign two different extension numbers to the 2 lines of this phone if needed, or you can have a single extension with two appearances.
Power - do not forget to order a Polycom PV2460 power supply with each of these phone unless you have a network switch that delivers POE (Power Over Ethernet).
Street Prices - expect to pay around $85 for the IP-321, $110 for IP-331 and $15 for the power supply.
Soundpoint IP-550 - (An "executive" 4 line phone)
This phone has a much larger graphics display and 4 lines. A number of the functions that you need to navigate the menus for on the IP-3XX are more easily accessed via soft keys on this phone. As well as the "executive" phone application, in a number of instances this could also substitute for the receptionists phone. This phone is equipped with dual Ethernet ports as standard.
Power - This phone is usually shipped with a suitable power supply.
Street Prices - expect to pay around $220.
Soundpoint IP-650 - (A "receptionists" 6 to 48 line phone)
This phone is much the same as IP 550 except that it comes with 6 lines and this can be expanded to 48 with separately purchased "side-car" units. This phone is equipped with dual Ethernet ports as standard.
Power - This phone is usually shipped with a suitable power supply.
